Chamber Update - May 2017

07 May 2017

Who do you know that deserves a commendation from Melbourne’s Lord Mayor?

Who do you know that has been in any small business that has been operating within the City of Melbourne for 10 years or more? We have several members who have received this in previous years and we are sure a few more are deserving for this year.

President Joh Maxwell has previously been on the committee for these commendations and is happy to assist any business in Docklands to apply.

Waterways update – Not to be missed!

We have a very important presentation by the Lower Yarra River Management Advisory Committee to members of the Docklands Chamber of Commerce and the Yarra River Business Association – an update relating to the governance of the waterways and building on from last years’ presentation on the waterways by Parks Victoria and Melbourne City Marina.

This is a must attend for all charter boat operators and other water-based or waterfront-based business operators.

Date:    Tuesday, May 16

Where: Melbourne Showboat – The Lady Cutler – Central Pier Docklands

Time:   3.45pm registration – 4.00pm start

RSVP:  May 9 –

Refreshments will be provided.

Welcome back - Woolshed

A great business is judged by how it recovers from adversity. The Woolshed has proven it is part of that elite group. Rebuilt, new energy, new menu and renewed passion. You need to go and see the changes following the reopening on April 21.

Great food, relaxed environment and the perfect location for your next event. Congratulations to Duncan, Lee and all the staff. We look forward to seeing you soon.

Docklands Harvest

This is a new event this May at Buluk Park.

Friday, May 19: 5pm - 9pm

Saturday, May 20: 11am - 4pm

Buluk Park (Library at The Dock)

Soak up the festive atmosphere on Friday night and experience the toe tapping sounds of folk band Velvet Archers and local DJs. Grab a drink and enjoy a bite to eat from a range of vendors.

On Saturday, Docklands Harvest will feature fun for the whole family. Get hands on with some great workshops, including:

  • Sausage making, traditional pizza workshops and coffee appreciation with Saluministi;
  • The age-old art of preserving and pickling with My Green Garden;
  • Make your own pasta with Twirled Pasta Bar;
  • Tea and chocolate pairing with WaWa Chocolatier;
  • Learn how to make the most out of small spaces with vertical gardening; and much more.

Enjoy food and drinks from pop-up stalls, whilst enjoying music from local artists and our feature act Cooking on 3 Burners.

Head to Docklands Harvest after work on Friday, May 19 or bring the whole family on Saturday May 20.
