Docklands pioneer Tony Smarrelli is back in the business of giving locals tax advice.

The experienced tax accountant is involved in a new business – Spartan Financial – but is offering the same sound advice as he has since 1971 when he was recruited by H&R Block as the regional manager for Melbourne.

His task was to train tax preparers and set up and manage six H&R Block offices located in the Melbourne area. In 1974, Tony decided to go out on his own and established Tax Aid, The Income Tax Specialists.

Over the years the business grew to 6000 clients and multiple offices were established across the Melbourne suburbs. Tax Aid head office moved from Abbotsford in 1974 to Docklands in November 2005.

The business was sold to Bentley Partners Pty Ltd, in 2011 and changed names multiple times. Upon the sale of the business Tony stayed on to continue his relationships with his many clients that he had looked after over the years.

Tony has a loyal following and continues to provide advice and prepare tax returns for third-generation family clients. His specialty is personal and business income tax returns and his passion is interacting with and looking after the needs of his clients.

Tony is a qualified tax accountant who has operated his own firm and has been practicing for more than 45 years. This strong accounting background has enabled Tony to successfully assist clients, who appreciate his honesty and ability to negotiate on their behalf.

Contrary to what you may have heard, Tony is not retiring. An easy life is a good life. Tony knows how to do some things and taxation is his speciality and an industry he is passionate about. Tony enjoys handling taxation affairs, and it gives him great joy. He would be a fool to give it up.
