Homeless feel at home at Docklands

The nation’s homeless and marginalised descended on Docklands last month for the national street soccer championships at Waterfront City.

New South Wales defeated Victoria Metro 8 to 5 in the grand final, after a series of round robin matches played in giant inflatable street soccer pitches on July 20.

Six teams of homeless and marginalised people from across Australia competed in the national championships, while also vying to impress coaches for selection to the Aussie Street Socceroos to play in the Melbourne 2008 Homeless World Cup in December.

The Homeless World Cup is a world-class, annual, international street soccer tournament which this year will be held at Federation Square and Birrarung Marr from December 1-7.
