Second blessing for art gallery

Second blessing for art gallery

The Dalai Lama has a thing going on with South Wharf’s Red Desert Dreamings Gallery of aboriginal art.

The Tibetan spiritual leader first discovered the gallery on the Hilton’s level 4 when he was in town for the Parliament of World Religions Conference in late 2009.

And when he came back to Melbourne last month he insisted on using the gallery for his various media interviews on June 9.

“He apparently felt some connection with the space, which is a wonderful blessing for us,” said gallery owner Kevin Winward.

“As His Holiness walked into the gallery to meet Karl Stefanovic of the Channel 9’s Today program, he gently brushed his hand over several painted canvases resting on a table – quite a special and emotive gesture that in our minds was a sign of the link between cultures and sharing of many beliefs,” Mr Winward said.

“A second interview with Dave Hughes of Channel 10’s 7 PM Report followed.  His Holiness enjoyed the interview so much, he requested that it be included on his website.”

“Laughter and joy were a major component of both interviews, and a little of the deep wisdom that His Holiness imparted found its way into the brief footage that went to air.”

“But we were there for the 90 minutes of His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s visit and received the full benefit of his great wisdom and inspirational presence – A blessing indeed!”
