Romantic Michael

Romantic Michael from Rosebud won himself a Macbook Air last month when his poem was adjudged the best in Harbour Town Shopping Centre’s “Love is in the Air” competition.

His poem, together with those of four runners-up are on display around the centre this month.

Centre manager Shane Brown said the competition had received huge interest and many entries.  In addition to Michael’s win, the four runners up each received a gift voucher valued at $400.00.

Michael’s winner entry was:

Oh, please be my Valentine!
I’ll love you if you do!
And I’ll try not to embarrass you
As I stick to you like glue!

Oh, please be my Valentine!
Say, “Yes!” and make my year!
Or I’ll have to drown my sorrows
In a swimming pool of beer!

Oh, please be my Valentine!
And then make me your spouse!
My mum will be ecstatic ‘cos …
I’ll move out of her house!

Oh, please be my Valentine
And here, accept these flowers!
I stole them from my neighbour’s yard
It took me seven hours!

Oh, please be my Valentine!
And smile! (Please don’t frown!)
And just to make this day perfect
We’ll shop at Harbour Town!
