Australian motoring icon Sir Jack Brabham visited Docklands last month to be acknowledged for 50 glorious years in racing.

Three generations of Brabhams were “welcomed to the neighbourhood” at the function at Moored on November 24.

The function was hosted by the Docklands Chamber of Commerce and Kangan Batman TAFE’s Automotive Centre of Excellence.

Guests took advantage of the opportunity to quiz Sir Jack about highlights of his career which included three formula one world championships.

Sir Jack said taking an Australian designed and built engine to the pinnacle of motor sport was his greatest achievement.

His grandson Matthew has been named the Confederation of Australian Motor Sport (CAMS) Rising Star for 2010 and is sponsored by the ACE.
