Local worker is ‘‘aWarded’’

YMCA Docklands manager and Docklands Community Forum representative Andrew Ward has been recognised for his leadership capability.

Mr Ward was honoured at the SACS Annual Leadership Awards on August 28, winning the non-executive, not-for-profit award.

Taking out the award, Andrew received $7500 to be invested in leadership development.

Over his time as manager at YMCA Andrew has introduced a range of initiatives, including offering a second chance to young offenders through employment.

Under Andrew’s leadership YMCA Docklands also offers programming for homeless men, women and youth through partnerships with the Salvation Army, Youth Projects, WIRE and Melbourne City Mission.

He has also worked with Job Support to provide employment of people with an intellectual disability.
