Interview with Natalie Dempsey

03 Aug 2010

Before creating Oxygen Skin Centre, Natalie worked as a business development manager for Dermalogica.  After successful owning and operating an Oxygen Skin Centre in Port Melbourne since 2004, Ms Dempsey decided to expand the business and open up a shop in Harbour Town earlier this year.  Here, Natalie shares her thoughts on skin care.

What is the Oxygen Skin Centre and what does it offer?
Oxygen is a Skin and Body Centre specialising in skin revision. The focus of the centre is to deliver superior treatments with our expertise, knowledge and respect for each client.

Take us through the process that a new client goes through?
All treatments are customised to the individual’s needs, including specific products that are required for particular results, concerns and time frames, and they’re performed in comfort.

How can someone achieve perfect skin?
Healthy skin is beautiful skin and our treatments are designed to work on many levels – from pure relaxation; to working muscles for lift, firmness and toning; to resurfacing to brighten plus lighten; and plasmatic masques that flush the skin bringing new life to complexions.

Are there any trends in skincare?
Trends come and go because they do not deliver lasting results. DMK is our paramedical product range that works with your body’s chemistry and we must match that chemistry as closely as possible to provide the ideal environment for healthy skin.

Does the only way to have truly beautiful skin involve drastic measures such as surgery or botox?
We do not condemn surgery or botox as choices. We work very closely with surgeon’s pre and post-op because our  DMK treatments work on blood flow so, as a result, we can reduce swelling and bruising and help botox to last longer.

What are some things we can do at home to make a start on having beautiful skin?
We recommend living life to the fullest. Some things may have to be in moderation but generally skin health is achievable for all.

Oxygen is open Monday to Saturday and by appointment on Sundays. It offers a range of skin care packages, massages, waxing and more. For more information visit
