Ice is flying

Melbourne Ice has continued to dominate the competition this season as it looks to win back-to-back-to back-titles.

In June Ice won all four of its matches and is still situated at the top of the standings with nine wins and two losses.

Its first June match was against the Gold Coast Blue Tongues at the Icehouse. Melbourne came away with a 5-2 win. The following week the Ice travelled to Adelaide to take on the now fourth-placed Adrenaline – a game which it won 5-2. Ice then hosted the Blue Tongues and annihilated them 6-0 in a fiery clash which included a number of heated fights.

Following this Melbourne travelled to Canberra and there were goals aplenty with Ice running out 8-3 winners. For the final game it took on Sydney and continued its winning streak with a 6-2 drubbing.

Unfortunately, the same success cannot be said for the Melbourne Mustangs which is currently languishing in 7th position with two wins and six losses. It has been a long month for the team as it was unable to get a win on the board.

It started with a clash with Sydney which ran away with a 5-1 win. Then it hosted the Gold Coast but unfortunately had a similar result losing 6-1. The following week the Mustangs travelled to Newcastle to take on the second-ranked team and was easily accounted for 7-2.

Finally Melbourne hosted the Sydney Ice Dogs and failed to score in the match losing 2-0.

Starting in July, Melbourne Ice faces the Sydney Ice Dogs before a crucial top-of-the-table clash with the Newcastle North Stars. The Mustangs travel to Adelaide to take on the Adrenaline in back-to-back matches.
