Fashion Week is coming to Docklands

Melbourne Fashion Week (MFW) is coming to Collins Square in Docklands from August 31 until September 7.

Collins Square will be one of six city locations for “fashion capsules” – each featuring a different theme.

The Docklands’ theme is jewellery and accessories and will be headlined by a giant balloon sculpture by Moonshot Balloons, which will guard precious works by jewellers and accessory makers.

This installation will be curated by Virginia Dowzer together with production company Moth Design and will be in place from Friday, August 31 until Friday, September 7 between 7am and 6pm.

Also running during Fashion Week is a drop-off centre at Collins Square for social enterprise Wear for Success, which supports women and men facing barriers to employment, self-sufficiency and financial independence.

This is done by providing free professional clothing and accessories, one-on-one styling sessions and career coaching in the form of interview advice and resume preparation.

Wear for Success is seeking donations that will help men and women dress appropriately for interviews and integration into the workforce.  It’s looking for clothes and accessories of quality, pre-loved items that will make their new wearers confident and ready to conquer the workforce.

Wear for Success ambassadors will be available at Collins Square between 8am and 6pm to provide further information about the organisation.
