Victorian primary school students are likely to grow up with a positive view of Docklands thanks to an education kit produced by Lend Lease.

Lend Lease Victoria Harbour project director Claire Johnston said the kit came about after it was noticed that many students were visiting Docklands on school excursions.

“We thought it would be useful to develop a resource kit that would help bring the Victoria Harbour and Docklands story to life,” Ms Johnston said.

“When we designed the kit, it neatly fitted the Year 5 primary VELS curriculum for history and science.”

“We hope the resources will be valuable to schools and we’d love them to road test the kit for us and provide some feedback.”

Ms Johnston said Lend Lease and the City of Melbourne were now working on an oral history project to interview former wharf workers and capture their stories.

“The new library and community centre will also have an arts and heritage section so hopefully people can add their own stories about Docklands in the space,” she said.
