Docklands’ starring role

Docklands is set to have a starring role in upcoming feature film “The Moon and the Sun”.

The film crew worked on scenes depicting a stormy night on a northern sea onboard local ship the Enterprize in Victoria Harbour last night, with sound and visual effects creating a very cinematic atmosphere in the harbour.

The team from the Alma Doepel also contributed to the film, restoring a traditional naval four-oared captain’s gig for use in a scene filmed at Black Rock last month.

Alma Doepel restoration director Peter Harris said the film crew got in contact with the team seeking a boat for use in the film.

The boat was part of a matching pair, built by Cheoy Lee in 1956 and donated to the Alma Doepel in the late ’70s.

According to Mr Harris, the boat hadn’t been used for 30 years before being restored.

It now has a new lease on life, with other film companies since contacting the Alma Doepel team, looking to use the boat.
