Costco goes kosher

Costco goes kosher Image

On Tuesday, March 2, Costco launched a Kosher for Passover Road Show, becoming the first ever store in the world to open a specific Passover store and roadshow.

The Passover store, which will offer kosher products up to 50 per cent cheaper than standard prices, was launched by Costco’s Australian managing director, Patrick Noone, along with Israeli Ambassador, Yuval Rotem and Victorian Cabinet Secretary, Minister Tony Lupton.

Mr Rotem commended Costco for extending its hand of friendship to the Jewish community and said he was proud that many of the products were sourced from Israel.

Mr Lupton described the store as a great asset to Melbourne, which has the largest Jewish population in Australia.

As of December 2009, Costco operated 563 stores worldwide with the Docklands store being the only Costco in Australia.
