The fourth annual Community Safety Day was held in Docklands on Sunday, October 26.

Cool and blustery winds failed to keep the crowds away, although it appeared that there were fewer people than in previous years.

The event is very popular with families with children - with a carnival atmosphere and plenty of give aways.

The practical demonstrations such as car accident rescues are particularly popular with the crowds.

Harbour Esplanade is closed to through traffic for the day and crews work hard to transform the area for a few hours and then pack up leaving no trace that the event has come and gone for another year.

Hamish Barton, four and a half, from Cranbourne East, was one of dozens to experience police life upclose and personal.

Volunteers like Docklands Rotary’s Alison Gouws kept the food up to the visitors.
