CityLink signs to go

The City of Melbourne will remove a series of congestion-causing CityLink signs, following an enquiry from ‘Docklands News’.

The signs are directing CityLink traffic approaching LaTrobe St in King, William, Queen and Exhibition streets to turn left towards Docklands.

Signs in LaTrobe St (pictured) direct traffic further into Docklands.

Once reaching Harbour Esplanade in Docklands, there is no further signage, with some traffic choosing a left turn and others turning right.

Docklands News questioned the location of the signs and pointed out that, apart from adding to congestion on Harbour Esplanade, LaTrobe St isn’t the most direct route to CityLink, with Dudley St a more logical option.

A City of Melbourne spokesperson confirmed council would arrange to have all of the signs removed.

The move follows action from VicRoads, who in April agreed to remove a similar CityLink sign from Spencer St.
