Boating - My Boat

For Wayne Perry, bringing his family’s boat to Docklands is a great way to escape and unwind.

Wayne, his wife Clare and 10-year-old twin daughters Mackenzie and Natasha, can often be found in Docklands onboard their 38-foot Mustang cruiser, Nova Vida.

The family bring the boat up to Docklands from Patterson Lakes every school holidays and at least one weekend per month, mooring at Melbourne City Marina or Yarra’s Edge.

Clare and Wayne purchased the boat just over a year ago after they got married and said the name Nova Vida meant new beginnings.

“We got married then purchased the boat, so it sort of symbolised that new start together,” Wayne said.

Nova Vida isn’t the pair’s first boat, having previously owned a small trailerable boat and then a 28-foot Monterey, before upgrading to the Mustang cruiser.

According to Wayne, visiting Docklands onboard Nova Vida provides the opportunity for release and a getaway from day-today-life.

“It’s the only place I relax”.

Wayne said the family has been visiting Docklands for the past six or seven years, and loved the area, enjoying the shopping and restaurants.

“We’re really big supporters of the local businesses,” he said.

Importantly, the area is family-friendly and there is plenty to keep the kids entertained.

“The kids love coming into Docklands and we almost feel part of the community now,” Wayne said.
