Accolades for local properties

The ANZ Centre won the Australian Development of the Year Award last month, cementing it as Australia’s top property of the year.

The prize was announced at the 2011 Property Council of Australia / Rider Levett Bucknall Innovation and Excellence Awards.

The ANZ Centre was also awarded the Colliers International award for best office development.

The ANZ Centre has received continuing praise for innovation and sustainability.

Key design aspects of the building include “an underfloor air distribution system, wind turbines, a significant reduction in the number of car parking spaces provided and a blackwater system which significantly reduces water usage.”

Another Docklands property was also part of the awards, with the Goods Shed North receiving an award for best office fit out.

Australian Property Council CEO Peter Verwer presented the awards saying:  “The ANZ Centre is an outstanding showcase of the great outcomes our industry can produce. The building has not only achieved global benchmarks in environment and sustainability, but has reinvigorated the entire Melbourne Docklands precinct.”

ANZ’s global headquarters were developed by Lend Lease and is the largest single tenanted commercial building in Australia.

The building has 83,550 square metres of space and concentrates on the best possible environmental outcomes for air, water, energy and waste management.
