City on a Hill is now offering a new service in a cinema at Hoyts, Melbourne Central.  The doors of the new venue opened on Sunday, May 9 and was a huge success with close to 400 people.

A cinema is not the most traditional meeting space for a church, which has attracted much interest.  Whilst we know it will raise a few eyebrows, we believe the cinema, like the pub, is an inviting venue that provides a great connection point for people who have never been to church.

We also have some great space to run a children’s program that is attracting many young families from Docklands and the CBD.

We love that on Sundays there is going to be church in a local pub in Docklands and a city theatre all on the same day.

The church, which has sought to use culturally relevant methods and media, is passionate about knowing Jesus and making him known.

Over the past two years we’ve been so excited by the amount of people who’ve connected.  Jesus continues to be the most influential and famous person who ever lived, and people are keen to find out more.

We’ve been running out of space for a while now – and excited by the potential and opportunity are that a new and bigger
venue brings.

The church will offer its 10am morning service at Hoyts, Melbourne Central and a 6pm evening service at James Squire Brewhouse, Docklands.  Through the
week the community leads a range of initiatives, which includes small groups, leadership training, and a program for Melbourne’s homeless.
